Bikery Courses

This session gives an overview of how the parts of a standard spokes wheel work with each other, and how to make small adjustments to ensure your wheels are running true, as well as replacing a broken spoke and tensioning the spokes of a wheel. We will also look at tool options from the most basic to professional level tools.

Hydraulic Brakes - Modular Course

3 hrs£70

We take you through how to look after your hydraulic disc brakes. We go through cleaning, inspection and regular servicing, including changing brake pads and rotors and their different types and then look at the brake bleeding process. This is a hands-on day and you should leave confident that you can conduct routine servicing and know when things are working properly.

Please note - we will mainly look at Tektro/Shimano type, mineral oil, flat bar brakes. If you have drop bar levers and/or Sram/Hope brakes, please let us know beforehand so we can have suitable examples available.

Come and help us remove, sort and salvage parts from end-of-life bikes and even work on refurbishing and renovating bikes. A great way to learn mechanical skills without any fear of damaging a bike. Stripping bikes provides practical knowledge of how bikes fit together and helps learn correct tool use and safety assessment of parts and bikes.
To get the most out of these sessions, we recommend you attend as many as possible to progressively advance your confidence and skills over a longer period.

BYOB Drop-In (Age 12-16)

2 hrs 30 minsFree

Public DIY mechanics sessions. Come in and use one of our workstations and tools to fix your own bike. There will be mechanics and volunteers on hand to help you assess your bike, ensure safe use of tools and safety check your bike.
Please note that we only hold a minimal number of spare parts, so please bring any new parts with you, or order them in advance of coming in to do the work. All parts used will need to be paid for at the current retail price.
Don’t have a bike? – come and recycle one of our donated bikes for you / or someone else to use. Note any new parts used will have to be purchased separately.

Very informative and valuable workshop. Everything was explained and easy language adjusting to the learners’ ability to comprehend the information.
